Spock's Beard

Friday before last, I saw Spock's Beard play at B. B. King's with James and Jimmy. It had been months since I was last at a concert. Unfortunately, I forgot my musician's ear plugs at home, so I didn't get to try them out.

I like that when I hear a song and remark that it is very Simon and Garfunkel-ish, that Jimmy can respond right away "The Boxer, yeah."

New Years, Etc

Date: Thursday, January 4, 2007 - 2:04pm

Been busy with life lately. The holidays were hell with the immediate family, less so with the extended family. Glad to be on break from school for the next several weeks.

Allie and I have been hanging out a whole lot (which I still find unsettling in that I am very used to being alone, though oddly I like it). We spent New Years doing nothing with her friend, Liz. I'm not hugely social at all so I was concerned that Allie would be bored as she is way more social than I am.

Work is crazy all over the place. We're moving buildings in a few weeks so that adds to it as well. But it puts me closer to school and the same distance from home so I view it as a positive.

Bonus points for seeing the Jameses this weekend.

Dark Side Of The Moon Tour

Last night, I saw Roger Waters' Dark Side of the Moon tour at Jones Beach with James and James. There's also an event going on at the gallery tonight that I want to stop by and see if I can. The concert was very awesome and the quadraphonic sound system was pretty neat. I didn't think Bring The Boys Back Home would sound good live since for the movie, it required a full opera and orchestra, but it still sounded great.

Weekend Turned To Crap

So yesterday, I wandered around the park for a bit, lost track of time and didn't get to call Tom until around 4:30 PM. He got caught up doing stuff and didn't make it over until 6:45 PM. We started to walk further downtown, but I then realized the time and that I was supposed to meet James and James. So rather than getting Korean food, I grabbed the next train back. But when I got back out to the Island, I gave the two numbers I had for James a call and one never answered and one wasy busy. And I was hungry. So I went home. I should have went to the Apple store.

And I have to deal with my flat tire.

But I'll see them both next week for Roger Waters (of Pink Floyd fame) at Jones Beach. Reviews indicate that it will be a good show.

Plans For The Day

As soon as I get cleaned up, I'm off to Strawberry Fields. I'll give Tom a call and we can hang out. Then off to watch music DVDs with James and James. Apparently, there is a 360 Photo Group in NYC. Had I had more notice, I would have went to the meet this morning, but it was sort of early and I just found out about it yesterday.

Tomorrow I need to work on some school stuff and work on the stuff I promised I'd help my dad with.

Ping James Taylor

Seriously, Jimmy and I haven't heard from you in two weeks and I even went as far as to call (shudder). Are you alive?

Phil, Trey, Etc.

Date: Thursday, July 13, 2006 - 9:42pm
Keywords: me, James T, James E, Phil Lesh, Jones Beach, Trey Anastasio

I went to see Phil Lesh, Trey Anastasio and a bunch of others jam (for something like 8 hours) at Jones Beach last Friday. The hippy factor was probably seven out of ten, way over James Esatto's three out of ten threshold, so I didn't get him a ticket. Christina got freaked out by some of the drug use, but whatever. Doesn't bother me, but then again, I was bothered by the broken glass beer bottles in the parking lot. Things aren't what they used to be. "These times, they are a changin'."

But the music was awesome. These guys jammed for probably 8 hours or so. It started at 4:00 PM and went to a bit past 12:00 AM. I really need to find this show. It was amazing.

Allman Brothers Band At The Beach

Date: Thursday, July 13, 2006 - 9:36pm
Keywords: me, James T, James E, The Allman Brothers Band, Jones Beach

I dragged Christina, James and James to see The Allman Brothers Band at Jones Beach on June 27. James (Esatto) summed it up well by calling it a two hour guitar solo. Though James (Taylor) pointed out that no concert is truly complete without a five minute timpani solo. Who'd a thought, right? I guess that is what happens when you've got three drummers. Even I thought they were heavy on the drummer end and I listen to drum and bugle corps.

But it rocked. There were a bunch of deadheads there. I don't think that one could call The Allman Brothers Band a southern rock band any more. They are definetly a jam band. They didn't play big songs like Jessica but they did play Statesboro Blues. Definetly an awesome concert.

R30 DVD

Date: Saturday, April 15, 2006 - 6:23am
Keywords: me, James E, Rush

Rush's R30 - 30th Anniversary Deluxe Edition DVD was on sale for $19 this week, two DVDs and two CDs. It is from the Rush concert series James and I saw last summer, complete with the cracked out introduction with three part harmony from the dragons and the medley consisting of Finding My Way, Anthem, Bastille Day, A Passage To Bangkok, Cygnus X-1, and Hemispheres. Much awesomeness.

Speaking of James, he called me on Thursday as I got out of work to see what was up. Since I haven't been on AIM ever and Jabber rarely, I don't talk online to people much. But on the flip side productivity has increased a lot. We're supposed to hang out some time this weekend too, tomorrow I think.

Yes And Dream Theater At Jones Beach

Date: Sunday, August 29, 2004 - 7:43am
Keywords: me, James T, James E, Jones Beach, Dream Theater, Yes

Unlike previous occasions, it didn't rain at all when James, Jimmy and I went to see Yes and Dream Theater play at Jones Beach's amphitheater. Not much to say about this concert except that Dream Theater played a very short show and not as good as I've heard them play before. Yes was pretty good though.

James than proceeded to drive back to Rockville Centre to get Chinese food from the place by his house. However, since they were closed, we just went to his diner. Afterwards, he drove both me and Jimmy back to my house (Jimmy's car was there) and than he drove back home again. Should have just went to the diner by my house.
