This is going to be a "long" post, but for good reason.
Drupal 6 was released a little over two months ago.
Over 700 contributors brought you Drupal 6.
But the best part of Drupal isn't so much Drupal itself, but all of Drupal's modules.
Drupal's modules live are contributions and, along with Drupal's themes, are called collectively called contrib.
Drupal is not backwards compatible and this is considered a feature, not a bug.
That means that all the modules written for Drupal 5 needed to upgrade to run under Drupal 6.
A list of modules and their Drupal 6 status was created over a groups.drupal.
All the lines marked in green are modules that are ready to go for Drupal 6.
That's Drupal's community of contributors hard at work.
In two short months, look how many modules are now ready to go.
Life in the Drupal community is fast-paced, but no matter what your skill, there's always room for you to contribute to Drupal.
Kudos to the contrib maintainers!
